Welcome back! For those club players discouraged by the construction at the Campbell Community Center, you can now park by the club again. Now if we can just get the air-conditioning working.

The new under-200 Friday night game has gotten off to a great start.

I’ve got big news from the Long Beach Nationals. Ed Barlow won the Senior Swiss teams which, added to his 10,000 masterpoints, makes him a Grand Life Master. Ed also finished 28th in the Life Master pairs. Rose Meltzer’s team won the Championship Grand National Teams and came in second in the Spingold. Judy Fisher & Bonnie Bearsdley won the Women’s Pairs.

On winning knockout teams were Michael Migdol & Ray Yuenger, Bill Bidermann, and Frank Lowenthal. ChingLing Jim Tseng’s team was first in its senior Swiss strat.

You can congratulate Ed Barlow most any Wednesday night at our club. You can also turn out on Saturday night, September 20, for a unit game in honor of Ed.

I know you’ve all been waiting for the Palo Alto sectional results. In pair games strat tops were earned by Bruce & Barbara Luttrell, Qing Yang, Tomie Sera, Fung Bao, Eryl Barker, Michael Abrams, Ronald Baron & Rehka Nirula, Robert & Linda Caren, Richard Pitzer & Ellie Hall-Pitzer, Franklin Kitchiner Jr. & Mich Ravera, Xiaoyu Cheng, Eric Yang, Ed Barlow, Lynn Yokel, Suresh Vasa & Kanti Khokhani, Peter Sun & K-P Cheng, and Robert & Nancy Ward. In the Swiss teams, first in their strats were Bruce Luttrell & T-C Yang, Rita Tingley & Vibeke Gilbreath, Ginn Hua & ChingLing Jim Tseng.

At the San Mateo sectional, Robert & Linda Caren had a section top. In the Swiss teams, first place went to K-P Cheng & Jeffrey Hu in the A-X flights, Michael Migdol, Larry Wagner, Steve Chen, and Shih-Ming Shih in the B flight, and Fung Bao & Raja Smadi in the 199ers.

At the Hayward sectional, section and strat tops went to T-C Yang and K-P Cheng, Jack Verson, Frank Lowenthal, Fung Bao & Raja Smadi, Robert & Linda Caren, and Phyllis Reinhardt.

I’m sorry to note the passing of Flo Switzer.
