Our Santa Clara Valley Fall sectional is coming up at the end of October, starting on Friday, the 26^th. Look elsewhere in this newspaper for more details. Shirley Foreman has kindly agreed to serve as sectional coordinator. Let’s pitch in to help make this another successful sectional.

As I write this, I’m still recovering from the All Western regional. Our unit members collected a number of wins and stratification tops. In the two-day open pairs, Cheryl Mandala & Yul Inn placed second, with Fran Dickman & Don Nemiro fourth. Stephen Tu was also in the top ten at ninth.

In the limited games, strat tops were earned by Mischel Postas & Josephine Murray, Leslie Perkins & Jane Slenkovich, Bob & Nancy Ward, Richard Follenweider & Elenalani Lam, Karen Hopkins, George & Barbara Roupe, Barbara Mash, John Postas, Wendy & David Fotland, Dennis & Joanne Nelson, Manju & Raghu Agarwal, Thomas & Claire Feury, Linda Rallis, Sheri Archer, and Rosemary Heath.

In the open charity pairs, Jiang Chen & Nongu Li had a strat top. In two-session games, topping their strats were Bill Riester, Li-Chung Chen, Stu Goodgold & Frank Lowenthal, Paul Nelson & Jeff Hack, Boyer Chu & Norman Wang, and Ruthann Critchfield.

On winning knockout teams were Rose Meltzer, K-P Cheng, Fran Dickman, Richard O’Brien, Gerry & Joan Piaget, Kit Humphrey, Henri Farhi, Leila Sink, Bill Langlois, Alan Malloy, Peggy Sprague, Kat Wesolowska, Joel Koransky, Judy Kaplan, William Traver, Marilyn Campbell, Elaine Erickson, and Dan O’Neal.

On winning Swiss teams were John Prior, Kat Wesolowska, Peggy Sprague, Gerry & Joan Piaget, Ken Rosenfeld, Dianne Shannon, Bill Riester, Mary Harvel, Randolf Rice, Karen Kulander, Happy Fordham, Ed Barlow, Peter Friedland, Stephen Tu, Benjamin & Michael Leitner.

Lynn Shannon became a Life Master by placing second in a knockout on a team including her mother Dianne, Lynn Yokel, and Don Nemiro. There may be other new Life Masters, but I haven’t gotten the word yet. Others too numerous to mention did well in side games.

Our unit members were also very helpful at the partnership desk, including Dan Turkus, Mich Ravera, Judy Travis, Wendy Fotland, Mario Vasquez, and Henry Zoellner.

The winning team in our special STAC Swiss game was Eileen Kotecki, Bruce Scott, Barbara Mash, and Lyle Supp. Only 6 teams turned out for this game.
