This will be short and, I hope, sweet. Trick-or-treat. Which do you prefer? This column should arrive just about the time little monsters are storming your doorsteps, unless you are out playing bridge.

Doesn’t the club look better with its new paint job? And it’s sure nice to have the new chairs.

On Sunday, December 3rd at noon will be a single session Board-a-Match unit game in memory of Charlie Dorn. This notice is appearing early so you can save the date.

Our holiday party is coming up during STAC week on Saturday, December 9. As it is a potluck, please sign up at the San Jose Bridge Center to bring some food or drink. The Orchard City Hall room will be open at 5 p.m., with dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m. Sign up sheets should be out a month in advance.

At the Santa Cruz sectional, earning stratification and section tops were Annette Powers & Don Nemiro, Lynn Shannon & Cheryl Mandala, Gretchen Podd & Alice Benyman, Gigi Spinazze, Henri Fahri & Bill Langlois. In the Swiss teams, it was Shirley Foreman, Ron Baron, Peggy Sprague & Alexander Tampilang. Other members were close to the top in this and other sectionals, but I focus on the tops, since some months that’s all I have room for.

Congratulations to our new masters:  Ed Chen, Stanley Jones, Richard Kelley, Gloria Thornton (Junior); Marilyn Cox, Alan Malloy, John Watson-Williams (Club); Vincent McLoughlin, Mark Pensler, David Sisson (Sectional); Fia Bosklopper, Mary Harvel, Pamela Woods (Regional); Ivy Chueh, Bruce Scott (NABC); Jerry Lundquist, Raja Smadi, Henry Zoellner (Life) Anthony Trebaol, Henry Zoellner (Bronze); Bonnie B Beardsley (Diamond).
