Let’s hope
no news is good news.
One of the
benefits of belonging to Unit 507 is that on Sunday, June 20, you get a free
dinner at Fung Lum’s followed by a free member appreciation unit game. Dinner
is at 5:00 p.m. with game after at the Campbell Community Center.
Please sign up at the San Jose
Bridge Center
or by contacting Lynn Yokel at lyokel@sprynet.com or (408)374-4669. Due
to the expected crowd we are renting a large room at the Community Center. If
you sign up and can’t make it, let Lynn
know so the unit doesn’t buy an unnecessary dinner. If you arrive early at the
Community Center you can help set up tables and chairs.
At the
dinner you will learn who has been newly elected to the Unit Board. Cast your vote
meanwhile at the club.
Looking
back, at the Diablo
Valley sectional, Kit
Humphrey and Henri Fahri won the two-session pair game. Josephine Murray &
Erma McCrory earned a stratification top. In the bracketed Swiss, on winning
teams were Frank Lowenthal; Steve Conaway; Zag Kadah, Kamen Nedeltchev, and
Walid & Bassam Baroudi.
Judy Clark
had a strat top at the Almond
Valley sectional. Fran
Dickman’s team won a couple of knockouts at the Mesa Arizona
regionals.
The
Wednesday morning game has blossomed due to Rita Tingley’s efforts. In addition
to the open game, there is a separate session for 299ers. It’s a comfortable
place to get your feet wet in duplicate bridge.
On Friday
nights, Carole Dietz and George Pledger
are now offered a Swiss team game on the final Friday of every month. This will
give our newer players some experience with the team format. They guarantee a
partner every Friday if you show up without one.
Ray Crist
is offered two new day games on Wednesdays and Thursdays, one in southeast San Jose and the other in Sunnyvale. For more information call him at
(408)738-1444.
That’s all;
there ain’t no more. If you’d like to read more or I
got something wrong, let me know at my new e-mail address at rayyuenger@comcast.net or
