On Saturday, February 26, at 7 p.m. there will be a pro-am unit game. Please sign up at the club ahead of time. Your partner will be assigned at the time of the game. These have been popular and enjoyable, allowing more experienced players a chance to pass on their wisdom.
December brought us STAC week, ending with our unit holiday party. 29 tables of players turned out to enjoy fine potluck preparations. Our president, Dan Turkus, won the turkey cook-off. In the 8-table limited game, Bob & Nancy Ward were first overall, with Bruce Scott & Natrajan Krishnamoorth first in the other direction and first in their strat. First in the remaining strat were Manju & Raghu Agarwal. In the open game, Frank Lowenthal & Mike Cailean had a 68.53% game, which was good enough for first in the Western Conference! First in the other direction and in their strat were Mindy Foos & Michael Fleisher. First in the remaining strat were Stan Batiste & Joel Koranksy. Congratulations to all, and thanks for the good eats and the help in setting up and taking down the tables and chairs.
The party also marked the debut of our new professionally printed membership directory. You may have noticed that we now include advertising in the form of business cards, which allows us to provide these free. There were a few glitches in this first run. The board plans a new directory in the next 6 months. So if you want to advertise or you want your address and phone number corrected, talk to a board member. The names are on the wall of the club and on our website.
Other STAC
week scorers over 65% were Ted Richmond & Bill Reister,
John Hoffman,
Several unit members braved the snow around Reno to succeed in the year-end regional. Strat tops in pair games went to Judith Clark & Michael O’Leary, Li-Chung Chen, and Faye Parsons. Kit Humphrey & Henri Fahri won a two-session open pairs. Knockout winners were Will Watson, also Erin Gove, Fung Bao, Michael O’Leary & Judith Clark.
