Board meeting for unit 507 Oct 2009


Attending:  Ray Yuenger, Erin Gove, Eileen Kotecki, Lynn Bartz, Judy Clark, Will Watson, Stu Goodgold, Jeff Hack., Judy Clark, Mich Ravera


Secretary’s Report – approved as amended.


Treasurer’s Report – $9,217.93 total balance.


Fall sectional – Ray will contact Diane regarding tables and hand records. Judy, and Mich will assist with hand set up.  Board members will help set up tables, chairs, and refreshments at noon Friday morning.  Mich also needs board makers for Sat. the 24th at 10 am.


Mentoring – There is a need for more mentors and Judy would also like feed back regarding the pairs currently involved in the mentor program.


Unit game  -The unit will hold a pairs game for the Nov. unit-game on Monday Nov 9.


Goodwill nominee – Diane Shannon was suggested and accepted as our choice.


Cliff Yang and Jim Solomon came to give a presentation about a new bridge club located at 1152 Cadilac Ct. Tuesday am, Thursday pm, and Sunday afternoon will be the section times. They will open for business in November. Contact Cliff 5107709301 2056174932


Motion made to table the discussion of the unit’s need for new chairs until club owners present a plan to the unit board regarding their needs. Vote came to a tie. There being no majority, discussion was  opened.  Eighty chairs would be needed. A committee was formed to look into the issue. Jeff, Ray, Erin and Judy will serve.


Charity games for clubs – There are three months Feb, Sept, and April the directors must collect for ACBL charities. All other months the director must first donate to an ACBL charity and then they may give the money to local charities. The director may also choose to alternate between local and ACBL charities. One may offer as many charity games as the director wishes.


There is a need to collect unit members email addresses and convince members to join Ray’s yahoo user group so we can communicate Bridge club information to everyone without the expensive postcards. Members may sign up online at the unit’s web site.


Holiday party - Set up will begin at 4:00 pm. The party will begin at 5:00 pm and end at 10:00 pm Dec 13th.  The Roosevelt room will serve as the venue.
