Board Meeting for unit 507 for June 2010
Attending: Ray Yuenger, Erin Gove, Lynn Bartz, Judy Clark, Will Watson, Stu Goodgold, Jeff Hack, Lyle Supp, Mich Ravera, Shirley Foreman
Sec. report - Approved as amended.
Treasurer's report -14,511.74 total balance.
District Report - Bill Corliss, who recently took over the post as president, wishes to speak with district unit board members to see how he can make things flow more smoothly. They will be setting up a speakers' bureau to help units fund lecturers for sectionals. Bruce pointed out that we have the lowest entry fees for regionals. We are one of two districts hosting two NABCs in a six- year rotation. A new event will be offered at national tournaments for players over 70 years of age. An overall win in this event, however, will not qualify for grand life master. It is recommended that units schedule sectionals early. The New Orleans national will host a discussion regarding a rating system in addition to master points. Contact District21director@acbl.org to email Bruce. If members have suggestions for charities which could benefit from District 21 funds, see Jeff Hack.
Sectional - A motion is made that we should add round-robin teams to the sectional in the fall. This two-session event will take place Saturday afternoon and evening. This event will work best with a good turnout. Motion fails on a tie vote.
Membership game - We expect 160 members to attend.
The unit game - This will be a revenge game using the results from the membership game to seed the field. Board members discuss whether we should send out postcards to remind people about events or email members instead. No action is taken.
Next meeting July 7.
